Wow, lots has happened in the last couple of weeks...PLUS I'm on Holidays!!! YAY!
I will first state that I am just starting the last phase of the Live Fit program (4 weeks). It has been so rewarding and fun. The last phase, is all about burning fat with cardio and calorie cutting. So to recap; the first phase was about muscle building. So lots of weight training and building on that. No cardio. The second phase is about muscle building, but shedding the fat by learning to super-set, count calories and adding cardio to the workouts. The third phase is about maintaining your muscle you built, by increasing your reps and adding cardio and plyometrics to shed the unwanted fat. This way, is helping you maintain all that muscle your earned, by not losing it with your cardio. This program, by far, has been the best program that fit my body needs and my motivation. It is not for everyone, but I have had a few friends start it and they are really enjoying it and noticing change. I will keep you updated.
Second thing I would like to mention, is that during the last couple of weeks I accomplished my first 8K road race, in the GoodLife Fitness Victoria 8K, with a time of 54:31mins. It was my personal best and it felt AMAZING! For so many years, practically my whole life, I have been a sprinter, sport player, and swimmer, never a long distance runner. It defiantly makes me feel good that I accomplished a goal set in mind and I am that much more healthier. This skill will help me further my career into the police force. It was a tough run, very scenic and I did it with an incredible partner, who also never gave up on me. If you can find a workout buddy it makes a world a difference. The previous weekend I had ran the Breast Cancer Run for the Cure 5K and that was just as rewarding to see so many people running for an incredible cause. It was one of the best things I did all year. I raised $300.00 in just over 3 days and Canada raised over 30 million. Fantastic!!
Lastly, I would like to say I have made the first step into becoming an RCMP officer. I wrote the RPAB (RCMP Police Aptitude Battery). It was a tough exam, but a great first step and I felt a wave of anxiety, fear, happiness, and excitement all in one go. It was great to finish and now I will wait with the rest to see if my mark was competitive enough make it through to the second stage, which is paperwork and the PARE physical test. I will be signing up for a training course that specializes in PARE/POPAT training. It will only benefit me to experience what it is like to run it. If you are also in this same boat as me, look in your community to see if a gym or rec centre puts on this training course. You can even set up this course in your back yard or practise, by doing 4min sprints and jumping 5ft distances. There is a link on the right side of my page and it will direct you to what is required for the PARE/POPAT. Good Luck!
I wanted to share what an amazing few weeks I have had and I hope for many more Never give up on your dreams. Push through the pain and keep moving forward. It is worth it!
